How Is My Data Secured When Printing?

The Direct Print Pro module requires an active printing subscription to function.

By default, when a document is printed:

  1. The document is sent from Odoo to the print server

  2. The client application retrieves the document

  3. The document is sent to the printer

All data is transmitted securely, and documents are processed only for the purpose of printing.

After the printing process is completed, documents are not stored and are automatically removed.

Secure Printing option

For customers who require additional security, Direct Print Pro provides a Secure Printing option.

To enable it:

  1. Go to the module settings at the company level.

  2. Enable the checkbox “Printing without sending documents to the print server”.

When Secure Printing Mode is enabled:

  • The document content is not sent to the print server.

  • Instead, the print server receives a secure download link.

  • The client application downloads the document directly from Odoo and sends it to the printer.

Regardless of the selected mode:

  • Data is transmitted securely

  • Documents are used only for printing purposes

  • No one has access to the document content

Important note

In some cases, firewall restrictions may block the client application from downloading documents directly from Odoo. This may result in a 403 Forbidden error in the print client.

If this happens, please ask your system administrator to allow the necessary Odoo access in the firewall settings.
