How to Use Print Rules?

Print Rules allow you to control where print jobs are sent based on different conditions, such as the user, report, or workstation.

Previously, Direct Print PRO used separate menus to configure report routing, user routing, workstation routing, and other printing scenarios. These have now been combined into a single Print Rules menu, making printing configuration more flexible and easier to manage.

Create a Print Rule

To create a new rule:

  1. Open Direct Print PRO → Print Rules.

  2. Click New Rule.

  3. Configure the conditions that should trigger the rule.

  4. Select the printer that should receive matching print jobs.

  5. Save the rule.

Depending on your requirements, you can create rules based on:

  • User

  • Report

  • Workstation

You can also combine these conditions to create more specific printing scenarios. For example, print a particular report only when it is printed by a specific user from a specific workstation.

If a field is left empty, the rule applies more broadly.

Rule Priority

When multiple rules match the same print job, they are evaluated from top to bottom.

The first matching rule is applied, and the remaining rules are ignored.

You can change the evaluation order by dragging and dropping rules in the Print Rules list.
