How does customer import work starting from release 1.16.0 (PrestaShop (1.16.0), Magento 2 (1.10.0), Shopify (1.10.0), WooCommerce (1.7.0))?

Release 1.16.0 introduces key changes to the way our connector imports customer data when processing new orders. Here’s the breakdown:

Improved company handling

Our connectors will now create separate company contacts if customers include company names in their billing or shipping addresses. Each company contact is linked to the individual customer for better contact organization.

If a new order has different billing and shipping companies, the connector now creates separate company contacts. This ensures correct invoice generation.

Preventing duplicates

The connector checks several fields to prevent duplicate contacts. However, even very small differences (e.g., a single extra space) will currently create a new contact.

The fields checked for potential duplicates include:

  • For Companies: Name (name) and VAT; VAT only*

  • For Individual Contacts: Name (name), Email (email), Phone (phone), Mobile Phone (mobile), Parent Contact (parent_id), Type (type)

  • For Addresses: Name (name), Parent Contact (parent_id), Email (email), Phone (phone), Street (street), Street 2 (street2), City (city), ZIP Code (zip), State (state_id), Country (country_id), Contact Type (type)

* You can now enable a setting to find and automatically map companies based solely on their VAT number:

Manual mapping for B2B

If you prefer hands-on control, enable “Manual Customer Mapping”. This is ideal for B2B scenarios where you may have fewer customers and want extra control during import.

When using Manual Mapping:

  • Set up notification email(s): Provide at least one email address to receive notifications about new customers imported with orders.

  • Manage customer mappings: Click the link in the notification to access the mapping table. Here you can connect new customers to existing Odoo contacts or create new ones.

  • Orders resume automatically: Once the mappings are set, the connector will automatically resume processing the orders.
