In some e-commerce setups, it’s common for the order data to change shortly after creation. For example, the order manager might make manual adjustments, or the customer may be allowed to modify the order – such as adding or removing items – shortly after placing it.

By default, the current version of the connector does not support seamless updates of order information from the e-commerce platform to Odoo once the order has already been imported. The only way to reflect updated order details would be to delete and reprocess the order manually -which is not ideal.

To address this, we’ve added a delayed import feature.

What Is the process_order_delay Setting?

The process_order_delay field is available under the General tab of the e-commerce connection configuration. This setting allows you to specify a delay (in minutes) before the order is imported into Odoo.

This delay provides a buffer period during which the order may still be edited on the e-commerce side. If changes are made within this window, the updated version of the order will be fetched and imported into Odoo – rather than the initial.

Example Scenario

Let’s say you set process_order_delay to 30 minutes. Here’s how it works:

• A customer places an order at 10:00 AM.

• The order is not immediately imported into Odoo.

• If the order is updated (e.g. a product is added) at 10:20 AM, the connector will still fetch the latest version when it processes the order (sometime after 10:30 AM, depending on what way of importing the order you are using).

• This ensures Odoo always receives the final, up-to-date order data.

When to Use This Feature?

Use the process_order_delay option when:

• Your business process allows or requires manual post-processing of orders.

• Customers are able to make order changes after submission.

• You want to reduce data mismatches between your e-commerce store and Odoo.

The specific delay value depends on your business flow and how much time is typically needed for these updates.
