During label design in ZPL Label Designer, fields are displayed in the General View by default.
To change the display type, right-click a field and open Settings, as shown below.
You can then select one of the supported display types, including Barcode, QR Code, and GS1 Barcode.
Supported Barcode Types
ZPL Label Designer supports the following field display types:
-
General View (plain text)
-
Barcode (Code 128)
-
QR Code
-
GS1 Barcode
The Barcode display type supports Code 128 only.
GS1 Barcode allows multiple values, such as GTIN, lot number, serial number, expiration date, and quantity, to be encoded into a single barcode.
For detailed configuration instructions, see the article Using GS1 Barcodes in ZPL Label Designer.
Other Barcode Types
To use a different barcode type (for example, Code 39), you must manually edit the generated ZPL code after publishing the label and adjust the barcode parameters.
This approach may be suitable when:
-
Only a small number of labels require a different barcode type.
-
Only a few fields use a different barcode type.
If you later edit the label in ZPL Label Designer and click Update in Odoo, all manual ZPL changes will be overwritten.
If you use custom barcode types through manual ZPL modifications, you must reapply those changes after each update.
